What are crepes?
Crepes are basically a very thin pancake. Very thin. So be very careful when you fill them and fold them, they will tear easily. Crepes are typically made from flour, eggs, butter, salt, milk, and water.
Where are crepes from?
Crepes originated in France in the 13th century.
What does a crepe taste like?
Think of a thin pancake, but not as sweet with more egg flavor.
Are crepes sweet or savory?
One of the great things about crepes, is that they aren’t very sweet, so you can fill them with sweet or savory ingredients. When I was in France, I got mine with strawberries and Nutella, which was very American, but absolutely delicious 😉
Can you buy premade crepes?
Yes! I am all about making things easier in the kitchen and if someone has perfected the art of making the perfectly thin-not-so-sweet crepe, I will happily buy it. I found mine by the produce section.
Ingredients For Easy Mixed Fruit Crepes
- Premade crepes
- Crispy Green Crispy Fruit Tangerines
- Strawberry and banana
- Yogurt
Typically sweet crepes are filled with a sweet cream mixture, but I decided to save on the calories and use yogurt. I used a zero sugar yogurt, but feel free to experiment with your favorite flavors. I found that the coconut vanilla was subtle enough to be the perfect pairing with the fruit…which is the star of this easy breakfast recipe.
Why freeze-dried fruit?
With no sugar added, 100% deliciousness, adding Crispy Green Freeze Dried Fruit to your crepe is an easy choice. Plus, I liked the added crunch.
