Making a smoothie is one of the easiest ways to start my day. To make a smoothie you need about 5 minutes and your favorite produce, I also recommend some protein. And that’s it my friends! It doesn’t get much easier than that. What I love about making smoothies is that the flavor combinations are basically endless.
Want to try celery? Toss it in there!
Want to see what green pepper tastes like in a smoothie? Go ahead and give it a try!
Smoothies are essential for many people who often eat on the go, and a great ingredient to add to one is strawberries. A simple strawberry banana smoothie is often a go to smoothie, yet there are many other ways to eat strawberries in smoothies when you combine them with other fruits and vegetables.
Me, I almost always add carrots and cucumbers to my fruit smoothies.
Carrots are naturally sweet and just intensify the flavors in your fruit smoothie. Plus, I always have baby carrots in the refrigerator, they are perfect for snacking and dipping 😉
Cucumbers are almost always in the house too, if I am lucky, I even have some growing the garden! Cucumbers are an excellent source of hydration, so adding them to smoothies is an excellent idea. Not only are you getting in a healthy dose of fruits and vegetables, but some extra hydration is good for us too! We love our Watermelon Cucumber smoothie for that exact reason 🙂 Sweet, hydrating and delicious.
So when Florida Strawberries started popping up in stores, I knew we had to make another refreshing smoothie! With Florida Strawberries, of course.
I also added banana to my smoothie, bananas are an excellent source of potassium and they naturally boost your energy, so they are an excellent addition to your smoothie. Especially when you start your day with a smoothie!
This is a great fruit smoothie for kids…they don’t have to know that you snuck in some veggies 😉
Now, I love strawberries for so many reasons! Especially Florida Strawberries. Since I live here in Florida, there is nothing quite like getting a fresh from Florida strawberry. Plus, strawberries are really good for us!
Strawberries are free of sodium, saturated fats and cholesterol and only contain 45 calories per serving.
This versatile fruit is easy to work into your day. To take advantage of the highest amount of health benefits, eat strawberries raw since cooking will reduce the vitamin C content. Strawberries are delicious eaten plain or dipped, sliced into cereal with milk, blended into beverages, added to mixed green salads or baked into pies and other desserts.
Did you know that Florida Strawberries are hand-picked, placed into the container, then shipped to your local grocer? In some cases, the container of strawberries that you grab at the store may have picked that same day. Pretty incredible, huh? Be sure to keep a look out for that Fresh From Florida label to make sure you are getting fresh Florida strawberries. Florida Strawberries are in season from late November through the beginning of March. We have a huge Strawberry Festival here in Central Florida, when that starts it’s actually the end of Florida Strawberry season. It’s like a celebration of the season!

Carrots are a nice idea, but personally I think any amount of cucumber completely overwhelms other flavors.
To preserve the beautiful pink color I usually use a small amount of red cabbage or a TINY amount of beet (both can overwhelm the flavor if you use too much, so go light). Zucchini is also great, you can peel if you’re worried the green skin will change the color.
Thank you so much for your suggestions! I would have never thought of red cabbage or zucchini, I will definitely be trying that 🙂 I do love adding beets to smoothies, the color result is always beautiful!
