Immune Boosting Smoothies

Cooler weather calls for comfy socks, oversized sweaters, a fire in the fireplace, and colds. Yep, while we all love the opportunity to open up our closets and get out the sweaters and jackets that have been tucked away for months, the change of weather typically brings sniffles and coughs along with it.

So today I am sharing some simple smoothie recipes that not only taste great, but they are healthy and are immune boosting. Now, don’t save these smoothie recipes for just the cooler months or when you think you have a cold coming on, these healthy protein smoothies are good all year long.

There are many foods, particularly fruits, vegetables and dairy that will help to build up the immune system.

Papaya Orange Immune Boosting Smoothie

One of the foods that is really good for immunity is an orange. Oranges are rich in vitamin C, they have 69 milligrams in just one! Oranges are also rich in the vitamin A, at 268.55 IU. Vitamin A is good for strengthening our immune system as well as in helping to improve the vision.

Blueberry Immune Boosting Smoothie

Blueberries are a powerhouse of nutrients and are loaded with antioxidants. They are a rich source of vitamin C at 18 milligrams each. Another good immune system vitamin in blueberries is vitamin E. Vitamin E is an extremely powerful antioxidant, and not only is it good for the immune system as a whole, but it is also great for skin, hair, and teeth.

Papayas are another good fruit for the immune system too. They are rich in vitamin C, at 187 milligrams per serving! Papayas also have 863.36 IU of vitamin A in it. Not only does the papaya help in building immune system strength, they also have an anti-inflammatory effect.

Papaya Kiwi Immune Boosting Smoothie

Kiwi is an excellent source of Vitamin C, fiber, potassium and antioxidants. It also contains magnesium, folate, zinc and Vitamin E. All those vitamins and nutrients make them great for building a strong immune system.

Dairy is not only an excellent source of protein, which we add to every smoothie we make, but it is loaded with nutrients. All dairy milk has the same nutrient package and contains 13 essential nutrients and 8 grams of high-quality protein in every 8-ounce glass. So, when you add milk and dairy ingredients, such as yogurt, to your smoothie you are blending those nutrients in for one superfood smoothie!

We love making smoothies, really, they are one of the most versatile meals you can make! Toss in your favorite fruits and vegetables and blend…within minutes you have a new combination to try. Since there are so many different combinations to consider when making a smoothie, we made a Build Your Own Smoothie Printable to help keep you on track for adding the right amount of fruits, veggies and protein.
