As a kid I remember waking up Christmas morning and racing with my sister to see who got to our stocking first. Christmas stockings were always so much fun to me. 

There were so many fun gifts in there, as if they were getting us ready for the gifts under the tree. They could be filled with anything from candy to socks to small toys.

I love seeing the same reaction on my kid’s faces on Christmas morning. They race to their stockings and dump them out onto the floor with excitement.

Stockings are also a great opportunity to get those socks, hair ties and other smaller items they need.

We also have a tradition of adding an orange to the bottom. It was something my parents always did, and their parents did. Now I continue the tradition with my kids. There are several theories as to how this started, but I like knowing there’s at least one healthy treat in there.
