Free Online Learning Resources For Kids
Almost everything we do requires some form of technology. Our children’s education and entertainment are no exception. Discover free online learning resources for kids and see how they may inspire your child’s learning. While this post is sponsored by Nature Fresh Farms, all opinions and our desire to help students and parents this back to school season and beyond are our own.
Today, technology has become an integral part of our lives. You can find technology in the classroom, in almost all forms of entertainment and more. The traditional way of learning in a classroom with a teacher and few students is slowly changing. With the constant advances of the internet, more and more people are now turning to online learning resources to supplement or even replace their traditional education. Indeed, the internet has opened up a world of opportunities for students of all ages.
As a parent, it is important to be able to identify when your child needs extra help in school. If you are unsure whether or not your child needs online tutoring or extra help, it is always best to consult their teacher.
There are many great online learning resources for kids. Some of them are free, while others have optional subscriptions. The resources I have listed below are all free.
Now, if your kids are like mine, before they sit down with their phones or at the computer, especially if they just got home from school, they are going to need a snack. When children have a nutritious snack before doing homework or studying, they are more likely to stay focused.
We love these Nature Fresh Farms Snack Supplies. They are not only the perfect size for lunches, snacks on-the-go, and for when the kiddos are sitting down to do homework, but they are fun! I love that the packaging actually has a handle, so it’s easy to grab. Plus, their are stickers and a kid-friendly inside for the kiddos have to have a little fun with.
If you are looking for an easy lunch option (for you or the kids) these Nature Fresh Farms Snack Supplies couldn’t be any easier to pack and meal plan with. They come in three varieties: medley tomatoes, mini sweet peppers and tiny cocktail cucumbers. Toss in your kiddos favorite dip and bam….you have a healthy snack they will actually get excited about. Don’t forget to pack some for you too 😉
Here are 10 free online resources for kids that you may find helpful:
Khan Academy
We love Khan Academy in my house. Now that the kids are older, I really can’t hep with their homework, let alone help them prep for standardized testing. My son used Khan Academy to help him prepare for his SAT and I am happy to announce that he did great! In fact, his score qualified him for Bright Futures here in Florida. Proud Momma right here 🙂
Ok, enough about me… Khan Academy is a website with hundreds of educational videos about math, science, history, test prep and more. There are no ads or fees, and the videos can be watched on any device.
PBS Kids
You can’t go wrong with PBS Kids! PBS Kids offers hundreds of videos about science, math, history, and more for children ages 4-8. PBS Kids also has an iPad app that offers the same content as the website, but with a different interface. I used to love PBS Kids when I was little, now I didn’t have a cellphone or anything..not to date myself…but I do remember it on TV 😉
Free Audio Books
I have a hard time convincing my kids to read. But, thanks to the internet, there are now a wealth of free audio books available for kids (and us adults). The best part is that many of these resources are online and can be accessed from any computer or mobile device. Now, I wouldn’t say that audio books are the same as reading a book, but hey, at least they aren’t watching videos on TikTok.
Not sure where to find free audio books?
One option is Storynory. This website offers a wide variety of audio books, fairy tales, and plays for kids of all ages. The stories are read by professional actors and are sure to captivate your child’s imagination.
Another great option for free audio books for kids is LibriVox. This website has a huge selection of audio books that can be downloaded for free. All of the books on LibriVox have been recorded by volunteers.
Finally, don’t forget about YouTube. There are tons of great videos featuring classic children’s stories that can be watched for free online.
Arcademics
Math is a tough one, so why not make it a game? On Arcademics (Arcade + Academics) kids can learn math facts quickly and even play multiplayer math games, language games, and more.
Starfall
Starfall.com is a free public service website that was created in September 2002 to teach children how to read. The website offers a variety of language arts and math lessons for kids of all ages. In addition to the educational materials, Starfall.com also provides parents and educators with access to free online learning resources.
Learning Games For Kids
One great way for parents to help their children with their schoolwork to do this is by using educational games. Educational games can help children learn foundational math and language skills.
The Learning Games For Kids website offers over 100 different games, including math, language arts, science, and social studies games. The website also has a variety of levels, so that children of all ages can find appropriate games to play.
Primary Games
PrimaryGames.com is packed with fun, interactive games that will keep your children entertained while they are learning. In addition to games, they also have a range of holiday-themed activities and educational resources.
National Geographic For Kids
Another classic. National Geographic Kids has been around since 1975 and til this day, it’s still a great way to have kids interact and learn in a fun way. Your kids will find educational games, videos, and other activities, centered mostly on animals and the natural world. Kids can also get virtual tours of other countries! How fun is that?!
Paper Tutoring
When looking for an online tutoring service, it is important to consider what services are offered, the tutor’s qualifications, and the cost. Paper delivers unlimited, 24/7, personalized learning help from expert tutors. And it’s free. Yes, free. However, it’s not available everywhere just yet. We do have it available by my house here in Tampa, and they are expanding by the day. Paper partners with school districts to make tutoring accessible to all students.
If Paper isn’t available in your area, check out other online tutoring services. A benefit of online tutoring is that it can be more convenient than in-person tutoring. If you have a busy schedule, it can be hard to find time for in-person tutoring sessions. With online tutoring, you can work with your tutor at any time that works for you. You can also take advantage of online resources that are available 24/7.
Your local library’s website
One great way to take advantage of online learning resources is through your local library website. Most public libraries have a website that offers free online learning resources for kids. These websites often include interactive games, educational videos, and articles on various subjects. In addition, many libraries also offer online classes and workshops on topics such as computer literacy, financial literacy, and digital arts.
